Job description:
- Identify the drugs which are to be procured on a re-order basis
- Place orders to meet the stocking levels
- Review the buying patterns
- Ensure that the quantity, expiry date etc. are checked when stocks are received
- Ensure that the required data is entered in the computer system
- Ensure that the drugs are placed in the racks at the designated places
- Help the pharmacists in understanding the prescription
- Talk to the doctors in case the prescribed drug brand is not available and get approval for the alternate drug/brand
- Ensure that the drugs supplied are with in the expiry period
- Counseling the patients
- Attending doctors queries on use of drugs
- Review the buying patterns to one of the pharmacist to check for expiry date
- Arrange the drugs in a systematic manner in the racks
- Ensure that the duty roaster is prepared
- Handling of narcotic drugs and the maintenance of records for these drugs
- Arrangement of drugs from other pharmacies /hospitals
- Evolve SOPs and make sure that they are complied
- Train the pharmacists on the implementation of SOPs
- Periodically review SOPs and issue new versions
- Train the pharmacists on use of materials management pharmacy module
- Check the current practices against NABH and make a plan of action to meet the short falls
- Minimize bouncing of prescriptions
- Negotiate with the manufactures and vendors for better terms, conditions and prices
- Take interest in finding alternate drugs/brands which can increase profitability
- Maintain/Improve customer relations
- To conduct audits as required by medical administration on narcotics and schedule X drugs maintenance
