The job market is incredibly competitive these days. In the modern era of digital technology, the interview process is changing rapidly. In the Corporate World, there are different types of organizations. Every company follows its own interview process.
In some organizations there is only one round before final selection, on the other hand some companies have two rounds of interview process. In an era of social networking, companies are now considering Visual resume, Video resume, Infographics along with Text resumes for the selection process. Since there is a tough competition in the job market, to get selected in an interview, your resume and cover letter should be well formatted, so that they leave a positive impression on the interviewer, whether he or she is an HR. Manager or Director of a company. Now, if your resume is selected for an interview you should be very careful, before going for an interview.
Here are some basic rules which Applicant should follow before going for an interview: –
- Proper Research About the Company /Organization: Gaining knowledge of the company and its products and services is the foremost job to do after receiving a call for an interview from the company. Internet and social media sites can be your first rescue. Failing to answer the basics of the company seems irrelevant thereby creating an unacceptable impression regarding your interview and vice versa
- Prior Study and Practice: A prior practice and knowledge of the basic and common questions regarding the interview and himself/herself should be well prepared. Professional help or even the internet can be taken into consideration for any aid in the same.
- Professional Attire: In the Corporate world, proper attire is very important for an interview. According to job market research, recruiters generally take 7 Minutes to judge a candidate. So proper dressing sense is necessary for all. Proper ironed and clean wardrobe is very important for all as the first impression plays a very important part in getting selected for a job interview
- Proper Planning of the Route: As an applicant one should be well aware of the location of the interview scheduled. Map out the route for punctual reach as that counts in and recruiters get the impression of it
- Documents to be carried: The applicant should always carry an extra copy of his/her resume and that should be handy as well
- Early Arrival: Getting late for an interview is not an acceptable excuse at any point. This will further create a wrong impression on the recruiter. So it’s always advisable to reach the interview location 15 minutes prior to the given time in order to avoid any odd situations and thus creating a good impression on the recruiter further.
- Courtesy Counts: Being courteous not only to the interviewer but also to other staff members as well as others also count. Being polite and greeting them never fails to impress the recruiter and also leave a great impression further to the fellow employees. Greeting the recruiter before the interview acts as a plus point and also shows confidence within the applicant further. Eye contact is also important as it behaves like a non verbal communication skill of the applicant
- Enthusiasm in Job: The applicant should show enthusiasm in the job profile applied during the interview. Keeping a smile on your face and being confident about the job shows that the applicant is really interested in working with the company. This increases the chances of selection in a particular job interview.
- Display previous achievements: Basically an applicant has to do the marketing of his skills in front of the interviewer. Therefore, he should give an overview of major achievements in his career, but while doing this he should ensure that these achievements are relevant to the job profile being applied by him. He should not further forget to mention about his skills related to the same.
- Inclusive responses: A candidate should not give short answers like yes or no to every question asked by the interviewer about the applicant’s technical skills. He should try to give comprehensive answers to the questions regarding his technical skills regarding a particular job.
- Expressing concerns: If an interviewer asks the applicants, that you can ask any question regarding company or job profile, then he should be prompt enough to ask only relevant questions regarding the working of the company, terms and conditions and job profile.
- Convey your preference: If the candidate feels that this a the right job for him/her , he should express his desire for working with the company at the end of the interview or ask the interviewer about the selection process duration.
- Being Grateful: It’s essential for an applicant to convey thanks to the interviewer at the end of any interview. This makes a positive impression on the interviewer, about the candidate.
